I thought this week I would do a fun themed Wedding Wednesday so here are a few novelty cakes...

New York themed cake....the little yellow taxi's are so cute! It was finished off with Belvedere Castle on top!

This was one of our favourite Novelty cakes and the Bride & Groom were so thrilled with it...

"We wanted a unique statement cake. Helen created our offset 3 tier honeymoon cake; 'Rocky Steps' leading up to the 2nd tier & a hexagonal top toer with a map of the USA on top, two side each for New York, Las Vegas and San Francisco, complete with yellow taxis, personalised chips & Alcatraz. Amazing!!!'

Wedding Wednesday - Winter Themed!

 As Christmas is on it's way I thought I would do a Winter Themed Wedding Wednesday post today!

These individual cakes weren't for a winter wedding but we thought they could fit in with a winter themed wedding day. They were all delicately piped and the top cake was finished off with a big bow with a diamante brooch.

These biscuits were favours for a wedding that took place in a Snow Bar! They were personalised with guests names and sprinkled with glitter.

This fun & festive bauble cake is from our Budget Range and features a topper made of baubles and the cake is decorated with snowflakes.

This ski-ing themed novelty cake is one of our favourites! The Bride & Groom are ski-ing away on their snow-covered cake!

And to finish off, I thought I would include our Christmas wedding cake! The gingerbread bride & groom are so cute!

Wedding Wednesday - 2013 Cake Trends

We've been noticing some trends falling into place for next year's cakes...this year Cadbury Purple definitely featured on a lot of our cakes but it's taking a back seat in 2013.

Ivory/Champagne

Briony (top), Tammie (bottom)

 Briony is a gorgeous floral cake that is completely ivory. It has roses draped across all four tiers and some delicate piping to finish off the design.

Tammie is another popular design for next year. It features a range of different flowers including roses and daisies and has a hint of sparkle with some silver butterflies for that extra summery feel.

Heather

 Heather is a gorgeous ivory design that is simple yet stunning. It has a large flower on the top to finish it off and all of the little balls are made of icing and sprayed with lustre spray. 

Millie

 Millie was one of my favourite designs. It is all completely shimmered and looked stunning in real life. Everything was piped by Helen and the roses on top were made by Sue and looked gorgeous.

 Elle is a really pretty ivory cake that has embossed flowers on all the tiers. The flowers are shimmered and it features a large bow with a gorgeous brooch in the centre. 

 We have taken a few bookings for Harper for next year...one with yellow and two with blue incorporated into it.

Bella is a simple yet stunning ivory cake with a sparkly brooch, big bow and diamante ribbon.

 Blues

Blue is starting to appear more in next year's weddings...all different shades from royal to pale blue.

Peach

Leigh is a floral design and the cakes are shaped as hearts. It is piped all over in a squiggly design with roses in different shades of peach.

Pearl is a gorgeous vintage themed cake with sugar roses and greenery with piped pearl necklace detail.

We have also noticed mint green is becoming a trend but unfortunately we don't have any cakes in the colour.

It's Christmas!

We are all in the Christmas spirit at the Cakery! Our window display is very festive and we have shelves and walls filled with Christmas cakes, cupcakes, cookies & decorations!

Wedding Wednesday - Modern Vintage

Here are a few of our Modern Vintage inspired wedding cakes! 

Bella

'Bella' is a simple yet stunning cake. It features a fondant bow draped over the tiers, with a gorgeous vintage diamante brooch and for that extra bit of sparkle, diamante ribbon around one tier. This was definitely one of the favourites when we attended the Kelmarsh Hall Experience back in September!

Christina

'Christina' has a bit more detail with an flower embossed drape across the top two tiers, finished off with sugar roses and daisies. It also has a lovely floral print on the bottom tier.

Emma

'Emma' is a gorgeous design, with intricate piping on two of the tiers and edible pearls on the other two. It is finished off with lace ribbon and large dusted sugar roses with diamante centres.

Harper

This photo really doesn't do this cake any justice. Each of the flowers have an edible pearl as the centre and the cake is completely ivory. We have taken a few bookings for 'Harper' and the couples are having some of the flowers dusted in their chosen colour to match their theme!

Martha

'Martha' is a gorgeous vintage inspired cake with lace on two of the tiers and edible pearls on the others. It has two large shimmered roses that link the gorgeous pearls across the tiers.

Cake Decorations - Edible Glitter & Americolour

For those who love baking & decorating cakes, we have some new products in that you are going to love!

After the whole 'edible' or 'not edible' fiasco with regards to cake glitter, Doric Ltd have come out with their own range of 100% Edible Glitter. We have a range of 18 different colours to choose from, each come in a 5g pot for just £2.49 each!

Edible Glitter is perfect for cupcakes or to add a hint of sparkle to a birthday or wedding cake!

Silver or clear glitter sprinkled over 'snow' on a Christmas themed cake looks really pretty too!

We are also now stocking Americolor Food Colouring.

"Nothing you have ever tried equals the colouring strength of these amazing pastes. Imagine the colouring power of a paste in an easy-to-use gel. Soft Gel Paste is packaged in convenient squeeze bottles with a flip-top lid. By mixing and measuring using "drops" of Soft Gel PasteTM, you can achieve precise, easy-to-repeat colours every time."

This product will last many year if stored properly i.e. ambient temperature, away from any source of ultraviolet light, as this can fade the colours over time. These state of the art colours are very strong and vibrant and hold up to freezing and thawing with low colour loss. 

We personally use Americolor when colouring icing and frosting for our cakes and cupcakes and it is amazing! You get vibrant colours with only a few squeezes of the gel paste and it mixes in so quickly and smoothly for amazing colour pay-off!

We have a range of colours from the Americolour range including Red & Green (ideal for Christmas cakes!)

Real Life Weddings - feature on our blog!

This is a lovely photo sent to us by Charlotte. It was a gorgeous, floral design with glittery butterflies and daisies in teal to complement the couple's colour scheme!

"It was a beautiful cake, just what we wanted and tasted amazing! Thank you."

Here is a close up of the cake so you can see the smaller details. The sugar roses had diamante centres to add a bit of sparkle and the whole cake was sprayed with pearl lustre spray to give it a lovely shimmering finish!
